Even after the initial acute COVID-19 infection has subsided, patients are frequently left with short- or long-term sequelae post-infection. Many of these are similar to the sequelae of other severe pulmonary infections, sepsis, and/or intensive care unit admission. The organ systems affected are numerous and span the entire body. Particularly problematic are the cardiac, pulmonary, neurologic/cognitive, and thromboembolic sequelae. This educational program seeks to increase clinician awareness of these post-COVID-19 symptoms to emphasize the importance of treatment to avoid such outcomes. This is the final module of this series on the outpatient management of patients with COVID-19.

Earlier in the COVID-19 pandemic, treatment recommendations for COVID-19 were scattered with new data pouring in. As new treatments were tested, their efficacies were revealed and national guideline recommendations were made accordingly. Given the number of potential treatments, it is essential for clinicians to know the guidelines to treat their patients effectively and prevent poor outcomes. This is the second of three modules on the outpatient management of patients with COVID-19. The focus of this module is on treatment of mild-to-moderate COVID-19.
