Pharmacotherapy for Obesity - Interactive
This clinical activity will focus on when and how to incorporate obesity medications into a comprehensive obesity management plan. It will summarize the indications for starting obesity medications, general considerations during treatment initiation, and therapeutic goals. The expert faculty will discuss the mechanisms of action, efficacy, and safety data for FDA-approved medications to treat obesity. Practical considerations for each medication will be highlighted, and faculty will include guidance on individualizing care based on patient characteristics and preferences. Recommendations on the unique nutritional needs for patients taking obesity medications will also be outlined. Finally, strategies to evaluate, intensify, and switch medications as clinically indicated will be reviewed.

At the conclusion of this module, the participant should be able to:
- Summarize the mechanisms of action, safety, efficacy, and dosing of medications for obesity
- Initiate, monitor, and switch medications for obesity in appropriate patients according to clinical practice guidelines
