Supporting the Diagnosis and Management of Fibrosing Interstitial Lung Diseases: Examining the Role of Physician Associates

Led by expert faculty Joyce Lee, MD, and Jenny Williams, PA, this interactive activity centers around the need to increase clinicians’ awareness of interstitial lung disease (ILD) and its clinical manifestations. Faculty explore diagnostic and assessment strategies, the importance of early diagnosis and referral to specialists, strategies to improve patient education and communication, and the role of advanced practice providers in supporting the ILD diagnostic and therapeutic journey.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Identify strategies that support the rapid identification of ILD that consider patient risk factors, clinical manifestations, diagnostic testing and interpretation, and referral practices
  • Develop holistic care coordination strategies for patients who have or are being evaluated for ILD that consider current diagnostic approaches and multidisciplinary team–based treatment practices
  • Integrate ILD education and communication strategies to support patients with ILD throughout the diagnostic and management journey and address patient concerns, fears, and ILD knowledge gaps
