24-Hour Waiver Training

This course is fully online and can be completed at your own pace. The flow of this online course uses a mix of didactic materials, case studies, learning activities, and assessments broken into different modules.    


Part 1: The ASAM Treatment of Opioid Use Disorder course provides eight hours of required education to qualify for the waiver to prescribe buprenorphine in an office-based setting, and covers essential information for providers to identify, assess, diagnose, and manage patients with opioid use disorder (OUD). The course covers the latest information on medications and patient-centered treatments for OUD.


Part 2: The ASAM 16-Hour Medications for Opioid Use Disorder course provides 16 hours of required education for NPs, PAs, CNMs, CRNAs, and CNSs to qualify for the waiver to prescribe buprenorphine in an office-based setting, and provides additional information for providers to treat and manage patients with OUD and other comorbidities. Course topics include atypical and complex opioid withdrawal, best practices and updated evidence-based guidelines on treating OUD, pain management, harm reduction, and more. This course is also appropriate for any member of the healthcare team who seeks to learn more about substance use disorder.
