Virtual Care Now! Design Thinking for Transformative Care
This activity explores the fundamental concepts and terminology in the practice of virtual medicine, as well as key insights differentiating successful practices and programs from the rest of the field. Plus, this activity serves as a call to action, encouraging participants to translate their energy into real thinking and planning for virtual care in their specific practice setting or organization. Employing concepts of design thinking, participants are encouraged to move beyond traditional approaches to care planning and delivery and into the transformative space enabled by virtual care.
At the conclusion of this session, participants should be able to:
- Understand important virtual care terminology and frameworks broadly
- Understand current/historical barriers to virtual care implementation and expansion – patient, provider, and system dependent
- Identify opportunities within their current practice setting for which virtual care may be appropriate
- Incorporate tenets of design thinking in developing new and expanded virtual care workflows
