As important members of primary care and cardiology practices, PAs have a critical role in the management of patients with dyslipidemia. To optimize patient care, PAs must be up-to-date on the characteristics of treatment options available for LDL-C lowering and the potential role of various lipid-lowering agents being used in combination. To optimize therapy, providers should also be aware of guideline recommendations for dyslipidemia management, the importance of medication adherence, and how to identify strategies to increase patient adherence and positive outcomes. This program aims to increase knowledge and competence in these areas to assist PAs in enhancing overall patient care for patients with dyslipidemia.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a complex inflammatory disease of the gastrointestinal tract with unclear etiology that is thought to be related to genetic, environmental, immune, and physiological factors. This umbrella term encompasses both Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. While the management of patients with IBD is generally directed by a gastroenterologist, primary care clinicians play an important role in disease identification, management, and screening for associated conditions. Specifically, primary care clinicians should be involved in the identification of patients with possible IBD, including expediting a diagnostic work-up and referral, understanding treatment options, and monitoring for effects of the disease. Although these aspects of care are complex and challenging, education on these topics is a critical first step in providing quality care for patients with IBD. This online program will appeal to various learning styles and allow participants to reinforce their knowledge and acquire new skills that can immediately be applied to clinical practice.
